As the lonesome steps echoed across a dark lake, the ebony fae sighed. How forlorn life could seem just as the most spectacular things happened. And why her? Right when things start going right, they're destroyed, obliterated, into an abyss? Was life truly that cruel? She sighed.
Yes.
Sapphire remembered all too well on her sister's death...just one away from the pack that would set them free from their dark past. Stop thinking that, Thought Sapphire fiercely, as she tried to look past the irony in her life.... As she did, her gaze randomly landed upon Jet Lake, the place she had been absentmindedly trotting towards. Sapphire, feeling some sort of odd omen lay down near the mud-caked bank and looked into the swirling inkiness. She watched as shadows and tones of gray swayed and danced like the smoke of a fire, and shift into so many shapes she couldn't keep track. Then, seemingly out of nowhere she could suddenly see Jade's face clearly in perfect detail. Sapphire felt her throat run dry.
"Why am I being haunted?" Asked Sapphire softly to herself as the perfect replica of her sister turned her head as if someone where calling her. Then, she saw her mother and father...and the rest of her old pack... Was this a vision? Saying that she should die so she could go back to her family? Sapphire shook her head...no...that couldn't be right. Her family wouldn't want her to die...right? Sapphire finally tore her gaze from the lake, panting.
"I'm sorry...I just can't bring myself to..." A fat tear rolled down her maw, there was a small 'splash' as it fell into Jet Lake, destroying the picture....there suddenly a flash of lightning and crack of thunder. A freak storm had suddenly came over Jet Lake...in the clouds she could clearly see Topaz, the killer of all she had loved....coming closer...ending the task he had started so long ago....
Sapphire woke with a start, and dew slicking back her fur. What was going on? She sat up slowly and looked across the foggy Jet Lake. That had all been just a dream? Sapphire, determined to know, scrambled over to the bank and peered into the murky water. For a fleeting second, she could've sworn she saw Jade....but then the a current swirled it away, leaving Sapphire dumbfounded and still unsure of what could've caused such a startling dream...
Yes.
